Selective Mutism Parent Training Groups

Details and FAQ

The purpose of this virtual group is to provide you psychoeducation and skill building in PCIT-SM, the evidenced-based intervention for selective mutism.

In the Child Family Lab, we empower parents with evidence-based information to support children everywhere. We are dedicated to helping you and your child find their way through the toughest moment. We bring research and reason together to create solutions for you.

These practice sessions will help you better facilitate your child’s verbal exposures on your own, at home. Each session will target a specific PCIT-SM skill (see schedule below) that we will practice together with therapist feedback. There will be home practice assignments between sessions. These groups also will provide an opportunity for parents and caregivers to connect with other families who are undergoing similar challenges.

Who Should Join?

A: Parents or caregivers of children with SM of all ages are welcome to join. Group supports adults in improving skill to help their child overcome SM symptoms through brave practice scenarios. Registration is capped to maximize personalized feedback during each session.
